Food Justice, we care.

Night Ministry

This is a ministry that all are welcomed to join and capable to join. We started to join Night Ministry and provide sandwiches since pandemic in 2020. We realized our friends on the street are in need.

How to join:
Once a month, every third Wednesday.
The short video shows you the tips. (click for more info)

Could I just make 5 sandwiches?
Sure! We usually collect around 100 sandwiches from folks at a time. It's a team work!

How it works:
After each day's sandwiches are collected, the Night Ministry delivers those sandwiches to different corners in the city Chicago regularly by trucks to ensure our friends' needs are fulfilled.

Why to join:
Food justice is one of the agenda of Earth Day, a continuing project.

Specific Sack meal guidelines:
Sack suppers should include sandwich (meat and cheese only, no condiments), chips, easy to eat fruit such as an orange or a banana or a fruit cup, and bottled water. Some peanut butter and jelly sandwiches are appreciated, as well.
Wrap the sandwiches in individual zip bags, and put them back to the original toast bag. Don't mix with fruit or paper bags. (click for more info)
If you require us to pick up the sandwiches, contact us by Tuesdays:

Open Breakfast

At this point, the Open Breakfast is suspended till further notice. We will update this page once anything changes.

What's Open Breakfast?
Open Breakfast is a service provides nutritious food and safe space for our friends in our community who are in need. We prepare fresh food right before the breakfast at church kitchen. After serving the meal, we would like to check in with friends who are presence, share experiences and wisdom.

When and Where is it?
Every last Saturday morning from 10 to 11 am, we serve the community at Ray Hall inside the church.

How could I participate?
Volunteers are welcomed and needed. Please arrive at 9 am. We will need five types of assistance:
(1) preparing the food,
(2) deploying the table and chair with strength,
(3) severing with smile,
(4) connecting with a listening heart, and
(5) cleaning and wrapping up.
You are welcomed to rotate different roles each time.
