Happenings & Announcements

Welcome.

United Church of Hyde Park (UCHP) is a tri-denominational faith community (Presbyterian Church USA, United Church of Christ, and United Methodist Church) and service organization guided by the principle, "Love your neighbor as yourself," which we believe connects all faiths. We are a multi-racial, multi-ethnic, multi-generational, and socio-economically diverse congregation. As a small urban church, we are inclusive in every sense of the word. These values aren’t just ideals—we live them every day.

United Church of Hyde Park matters. We are a countercultural church that challenges the reality of Sunday morning being the most segregated hour. We embrace diversity in all its forms and proudly identify as multicultural, multigenerational, and socio-economically diverse. We are part of the Open and Affirming Coalition, Reconciling Ministries Network, More Light Presbyterians, and the Chicago Coalition of Welcoming Churches. We are radically inclusive, working with and for LGBTQ+ individuals and allies, and we actively care for our community and the broader world beyond our church doors.

In the words of Vine Deloria Jr., "We must always begin with the land and the people," and this inspires how we connect with one another to foster mutual progress and justice. We are a loyal and committed congregation—a "ride-or-die" kind of church that puts people and purpose at the center of all we do. We are the UNITED Church of Hyde Park, located in the heart of Hyde Park. Come and see what we’re all about!

Mission Manifesto.

Picture

We are the church on the corner.  If you visit us any day of the week on our corner you will see homelessness and mental health.  You will also see people with little resources supporting one another.  As part of our mission we share a warm meal one Saturday a month with anybody who needs a meal.  This practice of hospitality has been going on for more than 20 years.  We are still trying to be that church that cares about and responds to what happens in our community.
"If you want to go fast, go alone; if you want to go far, go together."  --African Proverb

We are United.
